Imagine yourself driving a snowmobile on Langjökull, Iceland’s second largest glacier and then entering inside to see the largest man-made ice tunnel in the world!

The snowmobile tour is an amazing first-hand experience of the power and beauty of Langjökull, Iceland’s second largest glacier. Get ready to drive yourself up to the ice tunnels located 1260 meters above sea level to enjoy the amazing view just below the clouds. An experienced guide will lead the tour and also teach the basics of operating a snowmobile. Anyone 16 years or older with a driver’s license can take part in this once in a lifetime adventure. Midway through the snowmobile ride our guides will take you into the icy world of Langjokull where you enjoy the amazing man-made tunnels leading to the heart of the glacier. After you have finished your journey inside you will be taken back to Húsafell for the end of your tour.

The area all around the glacier contains hundreds of lava tubes, which makes the area really special for those interested in caves. Vatnshellir was closed by the National Park few years ago for protection reasons and now it's only open with guidance from approved guides by the National Park.

The cave itself is an 8000 year old lava tube created by volcanic eruption from a nearby crater in the Purkhólar crater family. As the lava rushed down the hill in a lava river it began to cool on the surface, creating a crust on top of the lava river. As the eruption stopped, all the lava from underneath this crust continued to drain out. That eventually left behind empty tube with roof on top that gradually cooled down.

The great phenomenon of orcas converging in our waters, chasing herring, has provided a wonderful opportunity to see these wild mammals in their own environment. We get as close as we can without disturbing the orcas while we enjoy the spectacle of them feeding or playing. As we look for the orcas, quite often we will come across a pod of dolphins or catch a glimpse of white-tailed eagles hovering overhead. Diving gannets, en masse, is also a common sight as well and gives us hint of orca presence in the area.

Sailing around Breiðafjörður's innumerable islands, the ever-so popular Viking Sushi Adventure Voyage offers a glimpse of the fjord's fairytale-like scenery: variegated rock faces, areas of historical interest, along with the strongest ocean currents anywhere on Iceland's coasts. During the summer, the area abounds with birdlife: shags, puffins, black-legged kittiwakes, arctic terns, fulmars and eider ducks. Even the king of Icelandic birds, the white-tailed eagle, sometimes makes an appearance.

A definite highlight of the tour is the towing of the dredge along the ocean floor, when different kinds of shellfish are scooped up from the bottom of the ocean: scallops, sea urchins, crabs, starfish, sea cucumbers, some of which can be eaten fresh (scallops and sea urchins, for example).
