Sailing plays a very important role in the Greenlandic infrastructure and a cruise along the West coast of Greenland is a fabulous way of experiencing this beautiful and varied country. Accommodation is in outside cabins with private facilities.

Town of the giant icebergs and home to the UNESCO designated Ilulissat Ice Fjord. This is the third largest town in Greenland and a place where modern life meets traditional life style, all surrounded by amazing nature. Here, ice is the main theme; get close to the icebergs covered in the rays of the midnight sun on an amazing Ice Fjord cruise, join a full-day boat excursion to the calving glacier Eqip Sermia. You can also visit some of the remote settlements where fishing and hunting still is the only way to survive.

The Sea Voyage

Meet the local population traveling from town to town to visit relatives and friends along the coast. Enjoy the beautiful and varied landscape as we leave the rugged Arctic nature in the Disko Bay and reach green and fertile South Greenland. We sail in open waters and narrow straits, so close that you can almost touch the mountains. Along the way the ship calls at the major towns and small settlements. Everywhere, the arrival of the ship makes people rush to the harbor to welcome friends and relatives. Life on board is relaxing; Enjoy the view and make sure to keep your eyes open, as humpback whales are sometimes seen.

Qaqortoq is the biggest town in South Greenland with approx. 3200 inhabitants and is the ideal base for exploring everything Greenland has to offer; the town itself has a thriving cultural scene, first made popular by the local artist Aka Hoegh who in the 1990s led the Stone & Man project, designed to transform the town into an open air art gallery.

Qaqortoq offers a choice of daily excursions to points of interest in the local area including Viking ruins such as Hvalsey Church ruin, which is mentioned in the Icelandic Sagas. Explore the natural wonder that is the hot springs of Unartoq not to mention the amazing icebergs and glaciers found nearby.
