Day 1: Arrival

Welcome to Iceland.  You arrive at Keflavik airport, the transfer to Reykjavik is not included but ask us and we can book the Flybus or a Private Transfer for you.  Your first day is on your own and we can arrange day tours for you or you can explore Reykjavik.  Dinner is also on your own and we can recommend some of the many fine restaurants for you to chose from.

 Overnight stay in Reykjavík (airport transfer not included).

Day 2: Borgarfjörður – Stykkishólmur – Flókalundur

Unique Waterfalls – Europe's Most Powerful Hot Spring – Ferry Ride among 3,000 Islands

We drive along the scenic coastline of Hvalfjörður Fjord (Whale Fjord), one of the longest and deepest fjords in Iceland. In West Iceland we explore Hraunfossar (Lava Falls) and Barnafoss (Children's Falls) known for their exceptionally beauty and unusual natural phenomena. We stop at Deildartunguhver hot spring, which bubbles out of algae covered boulders at a steamy 97°C (200°F).

In the afternoon we reach Stykkishólmur village and take a lovely ferry ride across the spectacular seascape of Breiðafjörður Bay dotted with 3,000 tiny islands. Encircled by mountains and the Snæfellsjökull volcano, the dramatic bay is home to 50 bird species, the rare white-tailed eagle, and gray seals who enjoy lounging about on the small islets.

Day 3: Rauðisandur – Látrabjarg - Breiðavík/Patreksfjörður

Remote Westfjords – Stunning Bird Cliffs - Red Sand Beach – Quirky Folk Museum

Today we discover unique sights in one of the least visited places in Iceland. We stroll along Rauðisandur beach, which shifts in color from golden to orange and red depending on the daylight. In a setting of black cliffs, Rauðisandur shelters a large lagoon where curious seals and Arctic skuas are regular visitors. Afterwards we behold unusual treasures at a quirky folk museum in Hnjótur.

Reaching Látrabjarg, Europe’s largest bird cliff and westernmost point, we encounter an amazing wildlife spectacle as the stunning cliffs host a mind-boggling number of sea birds. Safe from Arctic foxes, the birds are fearless, providing plenty of close-up photo opportunities including our playful puffins.

Day 4: Bíldudalur – Ísafjörður

Capital of the Westfjords – Thundering Waterfall – Outdoor Nature Spa

Traveling along the winding coastline of magnificent fjords we reach the vibrant fishing village of Ísafjörður where, honorary capital of the Westfjords. Settled in the 1580s, Ísafjörður boasts a charming old town center with some of the finest and most beautifully restored timber buildings in the country. The lively harbor is the town´s bustling center of commerce and provides a glimpse into the daily scene of rural life in this northerly capital.

En route we stop at the spectacular Dynjandi Waterfall which is a collection of seven cascades resembling a tiered wedding cake. We have the opportunity to take a dip in an outdoor thermal hot spring with gorgeous vistas along with a stop to enjoy some Icelandic specialties at Hrafnseyri.

Day 5: Ísafjörður

Fjord Sailing - Abandoned Settlement - Arctic Fox

With an early morning boat ride we cross Ísafjarðardjúp, the largest fjord in the Westfjords where steep mountains descend directly into the sea. We go ashore in one of the most remote corners of Europe for a full-day outing in the breathtakingly lush nature.

Situated on a beautiful sandy beach, Hesteyri is an abandoned settlement where the elusive Arctic Fox roams among the colorful wildflowers that grow knee-high. In the evening, our sail home reveals panoramic views of Drangjökull glacier.

Day 6: Hólmavík – Laugar Sælingsdal

Arctic Fox Centre – Saga Folklore – Thermal Bathing

We start the day with a visit to the Arctic Fox Center in Súðavík. From Ísafjörður town, the route provides coastal views of the scenic fjords that were cut into the earth by glaciers during the last Ice Age. En route to Hólmavík village, we stop at a quaint cafe to enjoy a local favorite, freshly baked waffles.
Our journey continues through green valleys to Laugar in Sælingsdalur Valley, an area rich in ancient Saga folklore and history. Here we have the opportunity to soak outside in one of the many thermal pools hidden in nature.

Day 7: Búðardalur – Borgarfjörður – Reykjavik

Birthplace of Leif Eiríksson – Volcano Hike – Dairy Farm Delights

We drive along Iceland's West Coast to the Viking Age house at Eiríksstaðir, the original home of Erik the Red and birthplace of his son Leif Eiríksson who discovered North America. In a turf-covered longhouse we meet modern day Vikings who demonstrate the lifestyle from 1,000 years ago.
We make a tasty stop at the local Erpsstaðir dairy for an introduction to Icelandic farming life and sample freshly made ice cream. In Borgarfjörður we hike along moss-covered lava to the 3,500 year-old Grábrók volcano cone with incredible views of the Glanni waterfall, a suspected home of elves and trolls.

Return to Reykjavik in the late afternoon. Overnight stay in Reykjavik.

Day 8: Departure

Transfer to the airport not included.

If you did not visit the Blue Lagoon on your arrival day, you might use the opportunity to stop there now on your way to the airport. (Reservation required, Not included)
