Day 1 - Reykjavík

The first day is available for you to spend as you wish in the capital city of Iceland. Reykjavík has plenty of things to do, with many interesting dining options, museums, and shopping, it's a relaxing start to your trip. Maybe take a dip in one of the city's naturally heated pools, or walk along the harbor to Harpa Concert Hall, a few minutes from where your cruise departs in the evening.

Day 2 - Stykkishólmur

Located in the Snæfellsnes peninsula, this western town is the starting point of this Icelandic adventure. The area is rich with wildlife, including the seabird home of Breiðafjörður Bay. The colossal Snæfellsjökull glacier contrasts with the busy nature. This 700,000 year volcano was the setting of the popular Jules Verne novel, 'Journey to the Center of the Earth'.

Day 3 - Ísafjörður

Welcome to the Westfjords, a dramatic landscape that just barely clings on to the mainland, this idyllic town is characterized by the surrounding fjords and mountains, unique to this region of Iceland. Many parts of the Westfjords lie untouched by man, as the climate here can be incredibly harsh in the winter.

Day 4 - Akureyri

The capital of the North, Akureyri is the largest town in the north of Iceland. You will get a chance to go inland to the Lake Mývatn area, a truly rugged and volcanic landscape, some even saying that it looks as if 'heaven and hell have clashed', with the contrasting volcanic remnants on one side, and lush vegetation and wildlife on the other.

Day 5 - Skjálfandi Bay/Húsavík

This is the most incredible whale watching area of Iceland, home to 15 species of whales, as well as dolphins and many seabirds. As you might guess, this day will mainly be dedicated to whale watching.

Day 6 - Djúpivogur

Today you can choose between optional tours, including exploring Europe's largest glacier, Vatnajökull, going on a Jeep tour, or taking a boat trip into the Jökulsárlón glacier. All of these are incredible activities, and each one will create special memories of the glacial landscape in the south east of Iceland.

Westman Islands 3.jpg

Day 7 - Vestmannaeyjar

The Westman Islands are volcanic islands, some formed over 10,000 years ago, and some as recently as 1963. The main island, Heimaey, is where you will be visiting, as it is the only inhabited island. Exploring the remains of the 1973 eruption, you will have a chance to learn about the violent forces beneath the Earth's surface. There is time on this day to do some bird watching, and you might spot some more whales.

Day 8 - Reykjavík

The ship returns to Reykjavík once more, where the cruise comes to an end. If you wish to add more days on to your Iceland adventure, contact Nordika Travel, we will be able to arrange something suitable for you.
