Day 1:

Arrival and Aurora Borealis

A private driver will greet you at Keflavík International Airport and take you to your hotel in the Borgarfjörður Region.
In the evening you will go on a Northern Lights Hunt (depending on conditions) The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis are an enchanting spectacle in Iceland’s skies. When you see the Northern Lights dancing across the night sky, you are struck dumb with wonder. The Northern Lights are best seen between 9 pm and 2 am at night. The tour will take you to an area where there will be the best likelihood of clear skies and sightings.

Day 2:

Into the Glacier and Hiking to the Highest Waterfall in Iceland

Early morning, you will get the opportunity of a life time to enjoy one of the world’s greatest wilderness; Iceland’s second largest glacier – from the inside! Never before the Langjökull ice tunnels, has anyone been able to see the beautiful blue ice at the heart of an ice cap glacier. You’ll get to drive in a specially modified snow truck on the glacier, explore the glacier environment, enjoy a view out of this world and go INTO the glacier to experience the glacier’s beauty from the inside!

In the Afternoon you will take a private guided hiking tour to Glymur, the highest waterfall in Iceland. Leading up to it is a fabulous hiking path that should only be attempted by those not daunted by heights or challenging hikes. Standing by the fall you'll have a good view of the surrounding landscape, which is is particularly attractive, as Hvalfjordur is widely considered one of Iceland's most beautiful fjords.The walk, approximately 4 hours roundtrip, will take you from the trailhead at Botnsá river through spectacular scenery including a rock arch and will have you crossing a crystal clear river on a strategically placed log.

Day 3:

The Snæfellsnes Peninsula and a Glacier Snowshoe Hike

Today you will visit the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. A private guide will take you to the area, and show you the natural wonders of this mystical place. The Snæfellsjökull volcano is where Jules Verne started his famous novel “Journey to the Center of the Earth”. The area is a miniature version of the volcanic Iceland, with a glacier, lava fields and caves, black beaches and high cliffs. You will join a small group going in a Snowcat up and into a nearby Eysteinsdalur. From there you put on snowshoes and hike between beautiful lava formations sticking out of the ground all the way to a hidden dome tent in the wilderness. There you stop for a while to taste few traditional Icelandic wilderness snacks and beverages. From this elevation of about 400 meters there is a great view of both the glacier and over the beautiful coastline below. In the evening you will dine with the locals.

Day 4:

To the South Coast

You will be picked up by your private driver/guide around 8 am and you will go to Þingvellir National Park where you will go Snorkeling in the Silfra Fissure at 10 am. You will then continue with your guide and explore the special places on the so called Golden Circle. After visiting Þingvellir National Park, you can walk around the world famous Geysir geothermal area, a geothermal field where hot springs are in abundance. You will also stop by the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall, Iceland most beautiful waterfall. The tour will end at you next  hotel in the South.

Day 5:

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

Today will be a long and very special day as you will be traveling to the far south east of the country, and visit Skaftafell National Park and the famous Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. You might be able to go on a special boat tour on the lagoon, if weather conditions are favorable. At the end of this approximately 14 hour tour will come back to the hotel in the central south. On the way you will see black beaches and sea stacks near Vík, waterfalls and more glaciers.

Day 6:

Þórsmörk Valley Super Jeep Tour and Ice Walk

You will be picked up by a private guide in the morning, to go on a Super Jeep to the Þórsmörk Valley. Þórsmörk, the valley of the Thunder God Thor, will provide you with an experience of a lifetime, in a breathtaking landscape, surrounded by the volcanic glaciers of Mýrdalsjökull, Tindfjallajökull and Eyjafjallajökull, the one that erupted in 2010.
You stop by at some of the beautiful sceneries along the way. Among them Gígjökull, an outlet glacier from Eyjafjallajökull, and from where a glacial flood came down during the eruption in 2010, changing the landscape dramatically. A specially adapted super jeeps that are capable of handling rough terrain and un-bridged rivers so you can experience the magnificent power of nature and winter conditions in the inland. Later in the day you will go on a short Ice Walk on a nearby glacier and/or a snowmobile ride, depending on the weather conditions.

Day 7:

Hotspring mountain circle hike tour and Reykjavík

Today you will head towards the capital, Reykjavík. On the way you will go on a private hiking tour in the mountains near the town of Hveragerði and in Reykjadalur, the valley of the steams. On this tour you will hike mountain trails and witness the unique Icelandic nature where the steam is coming out of every hole and bubbling water is all around you. After strolling these beautiful hills you will get a chance to take a dip into a geothermal river while enjoying the sounds of the peaceful nature. The guide will take you to your your hotel in central Reykjavík at the end of the day.

Day 8:

Free Time in Reykjavik

Enjoy a free day in the capital, visiting museums or a visit to one of the outdoor geothermal swimming pools.  In the evening you can explore the most amazing restaurants and visit the lively pub and bar scene in the city center.

You can also go on a Scheduled 3 hour Whale Watching tour from Reykjavik, if you prefer.

Day 9:

Departure

Our private driver will pick you up for your flight back to the US.

Price is from $12,347 per person: based on two people sharing a double/twin deluxe room or Suite. Price depends on availability at the time of booking.

Departures can be any time in the period from September to December 20, and January 3 to March 31.
